NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR – BYLAW 2642/LUO/21. Land Use Bylaw Administrative Update 2021.

The Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord (CSCN) and the Town of Stony Plain are excited to announce a Francophone school will be coming to the community. The announcement is the result of continued advocacy by the CSCN with strong support from local partners.

I am devastated and heartbroken to learn of the mass grave of 215 children at the former Kamloops Residential School in in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation territory. The discovery of the children’s bodies is a reminder of the tremendous grief and trauma inflicted through the residential school system in our country.

The latest Housing and Service Needs Estimate provides a snapshot in time of who is experiencing housing insecurity in the Tri-Municipal Region and the barriers to safe, affordable, stable housing that exist in our region. Based on 359 surveys completed, it is estimated that 632 individuals, including children, experienced housing insecurity in October 2020 throughout Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Parkland County.

Downtown Redevelopment construction work continues to progress during the extreme heat. Crews are working early mornings and taking all necessary safety precautions to limit exposure during the high temperatures.

Alberta is moving to Stage 3 of the provincial Open for Summer plan. .

STONY PLAIN, AB:. Stony Plain Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is officially transitioning to its new role as the Community and Social Development (C&SD) department within the Town structure.
